Submit a Pi Poem
March 1-11
March 14 is Pi Day! From March 1-11, write and submit your own pi poem. What’s a pi poem? Each line of a pi poem has a number of words equal to each digit of pi.
The first 15 digits of pi are...
3.14159265358979
This means the first line of your pi poem must have 3 words.
The second line of your pi poem must have 1 word. The third line of your pi poem must have 4 words.
And so on and so forth.
Submission Rules
Your pi poem must be 5 (minimum) - 15 (maximum) lines long. Your pi poem must have the correct number of words in each line. You must be 12 years old or younger.
One submission per poet.
Submit your pi poem by email to pipoem@buenaparklibrary.org by 11:59 p.m. on March 11.
In your email, please include the poet’s name and age and the title of the pi poem. Failure to adhere to rules will result in pi poem disqualification.
Library employees will vote on their favorite pi poem, and the winner will be contacted on Pi Day, March 14. The winner will receive an awe inspiring pi pie pan (a pie pan in the shape of the symbol pi [π]).
All pi poems submitted by March 11 will be displayed in the children’s room through the end of March.
